Sandpoint’s park-like setting attracts a mixed population due to its proximity to the University District and the community’s suburban look and feel. Mostly private residences fill the area, whose signature landmark is a former US Navy base converted to artist studios, performance spaces, and one of Seattle’s largest parks.
Most of the Sand Point’s Magnuson Park consists of beaches, playfields, and one huge mound kite flyers use in the warmer months. Every year, fresh crops from blackberry brambles that overrun the park’s real estate -- and line the Burke-Gilman Bicycle Trail that cuts through the neighborhood -- attract hordes of Seattle urban foragers.
Condominium growth exploded along Sand Point Way in the late 1990s, attracting a mix of academics from the nearby University of Washington, medical professionals, and fortunate condo owners who love being near the water.
Real estate bordering Lake Washington’s shore lands has obvious plusses; views of sunrises over the Cascades and Lake Washington are unbeatable, and for pursuing the great outdoors on the water, outfitters rent kayaks between Husky Stadium and on the outskirts of the former Navy yard near the water.
A few short miles south of this quiet neighborhood where private homes far outnumber condos, the well heeled shop at University Village, an old and affordable shopping mall from the 1970s that underwent a vast facelift in recent history. Now, designer shops compete with larger upscale chain stores to appeal to the changing marketplace.
Pursue CondoCompany for the finer details about Sandpoint’s condo availability. It’s choice real estate by any measure, especially for those wanting to be away from freeway noise but still reasonably close to one of the main arteries that heads to the east side – the location of Microsoft and dozens of other corporate headquarters. |
